Health Workforce Programs

Purpose: Expand the number of fellows at accredited addiction medicine fellowship (AMF) and addiction psychiatry fellowship (APF) programs trained as addiction medicine specialists who work in underserved, community-based settings that integrate primary care with mental health disorder and substance use disorder (SUD) prevention and treatment services. The program encompasses both psychiatry and an addiction subspecialty for primary care doctors.

Purpose: Develop and provide tailored technical assistance for current and future recipients of HRSA's mental health and substance use workforce grants.

Purpose: Develop and expand community-based experiential training to increase the supply of students preparing to become peer support specialists and other behavioral health-related paraprofessionals while also improving distribution of a quality behavioral health workforce.

Purpose: Increase the supply of behavioral health professionals while also improving distribution of a quality behavioral health workforce and thereby increasing access to behavioral health services.

Purpose: Increase the supply and distribution of behavioral health providers in rural and underserved communities to address the behavioral health needs of children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 16-25).

Purpose: Improve access to culturally appropriate health care by increasing the number of underrepresented minority students who enter and graduate from health professions training programs.

Purpose: Provide loan repayment assistance to faculty members from economically and environmentally disadvantaged backgrounds with eligible health professions degrees or certificates to serve at eligible academic institutions.
